I can see Captain Wentworth as a Yorkshireman very easily, up until the `You pierce my soul' letter (he's spent time in the sultry and passionate tropics, so perhaps that accounts for it). Until then, he's much better at expressing his emotions in actions than in words, and that sounds like a Yorkshireman to me (trust me, I'm married to one).
