My husband has just read his first Jane Austen novel, Persuasion. He is interested in some financial matters which I couldn't tell him (the details of naval matters kept us talking for some time, since he's a Hornblower and Patrick O'Brian fan).

In particular, how much rent would the Admiral have paid for Kellynch, and how much would that ****** (PG guidelines prevent me from revealing my husband's description of Sir Walter) have saved by moving to Bath.

Can anyone provide some encouragement for a JA newcomer?
