working classes

It is a clear that JE did not write books about the working classes or even mention them at any length in her novels. I was wondering why this is.

Is it because books with such a subject matter just simply would not have sold or is there more to it than that? Did she perhaps not know enough about the working classes? Was she not interested in writing about them?

What I would like to know is, is there more to her not writing books about 'poor people' than just because it wasn't the 'done thing'?
