You had to be sponsored by a lady who had already been presented and I believe that they were held on specified days during the season. Males had to wear knee breeches (satin) and there were other expectations which I'm not sure of. Commoners were presented - you received different greetings from the queen according to rank: kisses on cheek to peeresses and daughters of peers of certain ranks. Sorry to be vague.
