] I found a copy of the silhouette online
The only bio I've had a chance to read, by Noyes, seemed to imply that the silouette was probably symbolic, and as it was described, I thought sadly about Mr. Austen rather than Edward. Indeed, I think Edward was lucky, and since he was the only son of the Knights, he had those priveges and it would have been very different than Fanny's experience, etc. Godmersham is a huge estate from what I can imagine, esp. since seeing Chawton and realizing that it wasn't the family's main estate! He may jolly, but I had the impression he was a bit of a hypochondriac like his mother...
