In Response To: M.T. For whom did JA write? ()

] .....Is she the only one who wrote stories?

Certainly all her maternal family wrote charades, riddles and poems. There are examples from nearly all her brothers and sister and her mother and maternal uncle in a book called "Jane Austen, Collected Poems and verse of the Austen Family" edited by David Selwyn ISBN 1-85754-263-0 and published by Carcanet. - got my copy at the National Portrait Gallery bookshop, London. Cassandra's watercolour portrait of JA is usually on display there (currently put away in storage while they clean or renovate or something).

All these examples of writing are obviously written for the amusement of one family member by another. Mrs. Austen occasionally wrote to amuse her husband's pupils.
