Better late than never...

During the countryside MT whilst exploring the Lee Valley I spotted something interesting - however I couldnt find an online map at the time and, in fact I have had to scan my Lee Valley Park Map in.

To re-cap, Caroline's detective work identified Meryton as an amalgamation of Hertford and Ware in Hertfordshire, and the Lee Valley Park begins at Ware. This is a very large scale map so Ware is not shown on this section, but it is no more than a mile and half from St Margarets.

The feature that I meant to mention can be seen just below the village of Stanstead Abbots. Below Stanstead Abbots is Cat's Hill and just below Cat's Hill (slightly obscured by the A414) is...ta ta ta...Netherfield House!

I have as yet no information as to how old this building is or how grand. Of course it might simply be a co-incedence and JA may never have heard of it - however it is interesting that there should be a Netherfield House as near to Hertford and Ware as the fictional Netherfield would have been to Meryton, so one has to wonder if she might have heard the name from one of the officers that had been stationed in the district and it could have stuck, even if only subconsciosly.
