Promotion

Thanks for the offer. You'd have to clear that through Horse Guards though, or at least the protocols of the re-enactment community.

Actually, I still hold the official rank of "Captain" in my own unit. But, over the past year (and the one upcoming), I've held the position of "Brevet Major" (and 2IC) in the "Crown Forces in Upper Canada." That's the name of the unofficial umbrella group for units (Regular, Militia and Native) serving on the "British" side. Fortunately, that only required me to buy a second pair of epaulettes and the stars to designate "Major".

If I became a Colonel, I'd have to buy a marquis tent, a new uniform, etc., etc., etc. So I'll decline the promotion for the moment - I just couldn't afford it.

If anyone is interested, and is not already aware of it, I've book marked the Website of my re-enactment group. Unfortunately, it hasn't been updated in a long time, so second time visitors aren't likely to find anything new.

I remain,
Jason E.
