I'm taking a class on Jane Austen and I'm so excited I've wanted everyone to know.

Here's the description:

We will examine English history during the period 1750-1850 through the lens of Jane Austen. Specifically, we will explore the ways in which gender and class shaped and reflected the lives of the landed elite through a variety of cultural practices and institutions, including: the family, marriage, education, nationalism, economics, religion, empire, sociability, and consumption. Classes will be multimedia, utilizing slides as well as clips from modern film adaptations of Austen’s novels to discover and interpret the most significant aspects of Austen’s England
