Writers and Research

] I wasn't asking anyone to do research, just thought someone might know. I have been working on this book for 5 years and hope to publish it. As far as being an active participant at Pemberley, I have posted a number of comments on the site over the last several months, and this is my first posting of a question. I posted it first on the Emma section and someone suggested I post it here (maybe it was you). It sure is difficult to keep track of what goes where.

It was Myretta who responded to you at Emma. She also asked then if this was for a fan fiction story for BoI or something else, to which you did not respond until now.

Pemberley is a community of people who are obsessed with Jane Austen and we keep that focus intentionally narrow. Volunteers operate the site and contributions from our members keep the server running. We cannot and do not wish to provide any sort of forum or service for writers. We have, over the years, had numerous requests for help with writing everything from novels to dissertations to books about Jane Austen, but this is not the function of our site.

The exception to this rule is made for our own BoI writers, as their inquiries and efforts will contribute to Pemberley in the form of fanfiction. This is what Myretta has been trying to establish - just what do these questions portend?

Now that we know you are looking for research for your book I am sorry, but we cannot help you, for all the reasons stated above, though you are quite welcome to search through the archives for anything that might be of use to you. We have quite a few published authors who are regulars here at Pemberley, but we don't let them ask research questions either. This is not our purpose.

Good luck with your book.
