You have to admit that this portrait of Catherine is sketched at the age of ten..and age when many girls have a healthy amount of energy, and an inablity to sit still. Presumably, when fifteen, and curling her hair, Catherine's energy is redirected towards dancing, and to being kind to little ones. Between the ages of fifteen and seventeen, we are told, Catherine is training for an heroine. No further mention of slope rolling and baseball.
However, she does seem to be a very good walker, like Lizzy Bennet and Mary Musgrove, and like both of them she does enjoy dancing. Dancing doesn't have to be an athletic persuit, but it does use energy!
