Hi all,
I've just been to Florence this past weekend (no, I didn't take a 3-day trip from the States...I'm studying in Milan for the semester) and I went to the Pitti Palace to see the Museum of Modern Art and the Costume Gallery. Both were beautiful and fascinating - but both had examples of "Regency" styles!! There were at least 5 or 6 paintings (let me tell you, they were gorgeous) of Regency-style dresses! Wish I could have taken pictures...the best part was that every one of them had a big, thick red scarf :-)
Do I have it right that the "Regency" (i.e., high-waist, Grecian column) style started in France and then spread out to Italy, England, and other countries?? Could someone who knows more about this please give me some more information?
Thanks!
