Even in the USA...
In Response To: Still used today ()

] In some schools and universities in England, Michaelmas is still used to describe the autumn term (from Sept to Dec). In my school we had "Michaelmas term", then "Lent term" (Jan to Mar) and finally "Summer Term".

Very traditional Episcopal (Anglican) and Roman Catholic schools and churches still use Michaelmas to describe a holy day in the fall. The church I grew up in observed it, but (being shamefully un-pious, I have forgotten why). I will pull out my missal tonight and look it up.
