The book tells us that The Abbey is located about thirty miles from Bath, and that Petty France is about halfway. JA is always very vague about distance and direction, but it might be worth following up anyway. Petty France is located off the A46, near Badminton, and assuming that they carry on in more or less the same direction after that, Northanger Abbey must be somewhere near Stroud/Nailsworth or Cirencester, or perhaps Dursley.

Does anyone know of an ex-convent of nuns in that area?
