Here's something I've been wondering for weeks, and I'm finally posting where I'm sure to get an answer. (You bunch are so smart, you're scary!) Hope it will be considered on-topic here...

In war reports, I keep hearing references to "the ____ Cavalry [Division?]" and all I can picture is gallant soldiers on glossy steeds! What in the world is a "cavalry" today?

Now I'm picturing them on ATV's, oh dear! =P (ATV = all terrain vehicle, for those who don't know...a sort of chunky motorized tricycle)

I think the problem is I get 99% of my news by radio, not TV.
