Look what I found when I was chasing up something else: it's from an on-line biography of Ebeneezer Elliot, (1781-1849) the `Corn Law' poet (see link below)

`When seventeen he wrote his first poem, the Vernal Walk, dedicated to Miss Austen.'

Could this possibly have anything to do with our Miss Austen?
