My guess
In Response To: What Pin Money You Will Have ()

] We've had a lot to say about incomes, but not much about this. What could a woman in Mrs. Darcy's position, or Mrs. Bingley's, or Mrs. Bennet's, or Mrs. Knightley's, typically expect from her husband by way of pin money? Was there any relation to the income from whatever property she brought into the marriage settlement?

Although I speak with no authority of Regency times, from my pleasure of reading all of JA's novels, it was my understanding that the amount of the pin money was dependent on the needs of the household, which in turn is related to the status of the husband only. For example, Pemberley is an extremely large estate, it would take a lot of pin money to support its needs, plus Elizabeth would use her pin money to purchase appropriate clothing for a woman of her status and to make Darcy look good.
