<a href="[] src="/emote/quiteso.gif" align=left hspace=8 vspace=4 border=0></a>I received this in the e-mail from that friend (we all have one) who forwards everything that gets sent around by people who forward everything that gets sent around. I replied to the group she mailed it to that, given the wonderful and heartwarming solidarity our Canadian and European (not to mention Mexican, South American, Australian, Asian, and African) friends have shown with the U.S. this week, the complaining tone about everybody being against us is pretty inappropriate.
The next day our local paper (The Bellingham Herald) published it on their editorial page. Can you believe that at a time like this they'd publish e-mail spam as commentary? That one I did not write a letter about because I was under a deadline for work, but I was embarrassed for them. They had at least done enough checking to realize the piece was written in 1973 and put that in an intro.
What I say is Thank You, Canada, for receiving our international flights on the day of disaster. Thank you friends around the world for mourning with those who mourn. Your thoughts and prayers are felt and appreciated in the U.S.
