Charlotte, Mr Collins and Darcy's influence in the church

It makes me wonder. In P&P Charlotte hopes Elizabeth will marry Darcy, not Colonel Fitzwilliam, as Darcy has more influence in the church. Would that mean Darcy might be able to assist in promoting Mr Collins to a Dean or even a Bishop (perish the thought!), or was Charlotte just hoping for her husband to accumulate some more parishes and thus increase their income?

I guess what I'm asking more generally is would a wealthy landowner like Darcy have some influence in who became bishop in their area?
