] I saw some of it. I was rather disappointed because of the extremely sloppy way in which the statistics were handled. The enormous numbers of prostitutes in London were quoted as fact, on unsatisfactory evidence, in my view, and then this picture by implication extrpolated to the rest of the country. But I thought some of the images, the shots of the still-existing buildings and so on, were interesting.
I too thought it was disappointing and well below the BBC's usual standard. The subject matter - the way that prostitutes were so respectable, that women were able to own businesses and property and be feted for doing so - was fascinating. But I thought that the presenter's treatment of the subject, particularly the art and the 'folly' dedicated to Venus, at the end bordered on a schoolboy trying to use naughty words and sound grown up.
