eighteenth century peskits?
In Response To: 'weskit' & 'waistcoat' ()

] ] A waistcoat (prounced more like "weskit")

20th century England calls it a 'waistcoat'. It calls that horrid nylon thing you wear under your dress a petticoat. It calls the knitted, long-sleeve thing that you put over your dress a cardigan, if it has buttons, a jumper or a woolly if it doesn't. English people do not sweat, ever. (and it's a gilet if you want to be french.) Oh, and that sleeveless dress thing that goes over the jumper is called a pinaforedress, not to be confused with a pinafore, which is an apron.
