Airtight containers?
In Response To: MT: Phlogiston ()

We still refer to hermetically sealed containers, meaning airtight. This doesn't have anything to do with science at all, just sort of a pleasant reference to mythology.

I'd always thought it was Hermes, but according to Webster, it refers to Hermes Trismegistus, a 15th century alchemist who was good at sealing things...
