Re: Jane, Countess of Harrington
In Response To: Jane, Countess of Harrington ()

Thank you so much for the information! There wasn't any specific information that I was looking for - just information in general. When I saw her picture, I was immediately struck by it for she looked just like what I had always invisioned a heroine from that era looking like but not at all how they typically were depicted, especially when done by Reynolds. I had this dread that she had lived a short and tragic life, dying soon after marriage. Obviously this is not the case since you mentioned her having ten children (although I would think for some, dying young would be prefereable to giving birth ten times).

I am curious about the number of children she had. This doesn't strike me as a typical amount for a couple of this rank. You said they had seven sons, so its not as if they were trying for a boy. Were they an oddity, do you think? Or did lots of other couples of this rank have so many children?

Wow! I am envious! What I wouldn't do to get my hands on those. Are they actual copies or recent reproductions? If you live anywhere in the USA, especially anywhere near Chicago, I'd lock those up...just kidding!

Thanks again.
