Riots of gingerbread! LOL!
In Response To: Not just clothing ()

What a lovely turn of phrase! Having just come back from you-know-where, and had a guided perambualtion of Stoneleigh, I had to laugh. In the Saloon at Stoneleigh (The Saloon is THE room, the one that was the only picture of Stoneleigh's interior worth showing for forty years) , there's gingerbread allover the ceiling. It portrays the life of Heracles in plaster relief with the Leigh symbol everywhere- the whole thing is completely smothered in unicorns!

The ceiling of the chapel is also completely plastered with curliques....made me wonder if it would all fall down on my head.......
