Warning shot across the bow.

Will you all zap me with your mouses if I talk about JA as a writer using her tool to make a political statement? I think she did so and I would love to hear your opinions on this.

I know some of you may groan because you may see her as only having a little fun with bit of ivory, writing only to entertain and not out to make a point, but then I'd love to hear why you think that, too.

I feel it in my gut that she was responding to her frustrations over limits placed on women. I am always reminded of it when I hear Elinor tell Edward that at least he will inherit his fortune; she cannot even earn hers.

What say you all?
