Oh, Mary....

] Leif G-n: The house in which JA died is very easy to find. (snip)... it is not usually open to the public.

I have found it in the guide book, but I do wish it was open to the public.

] In 1998, on a wonderful JA tour sponsored by JASNA (run by a JA fan, BookAdventures Inc.), we were thrilled to be able to visit the house.

Oh, you lucky thing you! I have recently applied to join JASNA, hoping to go on their Oct. tour, because I thought there would not be an opening for the conference. Since I can't do both, I will attend the conference. Their tours sound grand.

] In the second floor room where she died (with a lovely bow window overlooking the cathedral walls), our guide read the letter Cassandra wrote after Jane died: "She was the sunshine of my life..." (or something close to that). Needless to say, we were all in tears.

I am sure to be moved to tears several times. I can hardly wait, but I have a lot of studying to do in the meantime. [My ignorance overwhelmes me at times.]

Yours, &c
Linda
