The Whites....

Not sure if I can say this here - but 'The Whites' is another name for leukorrhoea or vaginal discharge. You still hear it called that in the UK occasionally. I can never find that link to Domestic Medicine when I want it - but I know there's masses about curing 'The Whites' in that.

Ah...found it. The link to the chapter on Diseases of Women is here. The relevant section begins:

THE uterine flux may offend in quality as well is in quantity. What is usually called the fluor albus, or whites, is a very common disease, and proves extremely hurtful to delicate women.

Amusingly, the author says that The Whites are caused by drinking too much coffee or tea!
