A fellow wannabe costumer!
In Response To: Yes, please! ()

] I would love ideas. I really would like to make a dress, but I don't really know where to start. The whole project seems a bit daunting. I guess it would have been easier in JA's time when they had so much free time to do it (not to mention the skills to do it)!

Hi Niamh,
I'm at the very early stages of putting together a Regency wardrobe (that is, I've selected and bought fabric for two dresses and spencer sets). I will be using the La Mode Bagatelle pattern to make the dresses, but I have yet to buy patterns for a corset and petticoat/slip. For some really good ideas, go to Jessamyn's Regency Costume Companion. She has pattern reviews, recommendations for fabric, shoes, and accessories, and she's extremely helpful by e-mail.
Hope that'll get you off to a good start!
