1813 Opera Gown

The big fad in 1813 was very wide, square necklines, cut low. No shoulder straps for the sleeves; they were sort of hung on the edge of the shoulder, or worn slightly falling off. It's not a look that really lasted very long.

This particular print is from a fall issue of Ackermann's in 1813.
