Watch Fobs

Yes, the ribbons (with or without a decorative fob at the end) hanging from the front of men's trousers or breeches were usually attached to a pocket watch. I say "usually", because it was not unknown for a man of limited means to only have the fob, creating the illusion that he might indeed have the means to own a watch.
