] Amazing what one chapter of Dierdre LeFaye will reveal....!
She is so highly recommended here. Today I couldn't resist clicking on the link to The World of Her Novels on the board index page and ordering my very own copy. While I was in Amazon I ordered LeFaye's edition of the Letters too. (I hope Pemberley gets credit for the whole order, not just the first item I clicked on?) Unfortunately these items will arrive just as our MT concludes. I'm really looking forward to reading LeFaye's take on Jane Austen.
As I've mentioned in earlier posts, I'm not impressed with Park Honan's 'definitive' (I beg to differ) work, which I've been reading for the MT. It seems his goal was to write a biography that reads like a novel, but unfortunately we do not read biographies the same way we read novels. Therefore we are left wondering whether his (admittedly very interesting) vignettes are taken from one of Jane's or Anna's letters, or whether it's just Park speculating. It's rather frustrating.
