Building on my theory (and I don't mean this in a gross way so take it with a grain of salt) that Austen patterned Darcy after herself, what if Elizabeth was patterned on the vital and charming Henry Austen.

Eliza is very optimistic and sunny even when the chips are down. From this linked description he sounds a lot like Elizabeth Bennet.
