Isn't his father an earl?
In Response To: Could the Colonel marry? ()

] That seems a little strange, as clergymen were getting married on, say 600 pounds a year, but then again, I guess a house and some small farmland came with that bargain. So, does anyone know how much a Colonel made then?

I thought his father was an Earl and if that is so doesn't that also give him a title of Viscount if he is the eldest male heir? I'm sure at some point he is to inherit some money and/or land because of his family's peerage or am I terribly mistaken to make this assumption...
