I have always wondered about
In Response To: Colours and fashion ()

all the white dresses used in the adaptations. Would they really have worn white so often for everyday clothes, given how muddy everywhere must have been before paved/tarmaced roads? Obviously if you had an army of servants to do the laundary then maybe it was not such an issue. I noticed in S&S that ET quite often wore darker colours, and wondered whether this was a practical thing because they did not have the servants.
