I doubt, Caroline,

that JA was ever market oriented. I suspect that she stuck with the people that she was pretty sure she understood. If she were market oriented, she wouldn't have so many awful people with university education or with other means of gaining entry classification, and especially she wouldn't have so many awful clergymen.
