I think you've got more than one question here.....
In Response To: My apologies ()

First question- although JA doesn't describe it, does that mean it didn't go on? Consider Lizzy and Darcy losing all track of time on their long walk to Oakham mount. Consider Marianne and Willoughby running around the house and grounds of the place he is to inherit. No kissing at all? Consider Henry and Catherine dancing.. and Emma's admiration of Mr Knightley when he's dancing, and Henry Crawfords attraction to the animated Fanny Price when she's dancing with her brother. No body contact in any of these? Consider Henry Tilney's proposal of marriage and what happens after...or perhaps don't consider that yet, becasue we are doing a group read of NA. And more importantly, perhaps, if it did go on, why didn't JA write about it explicitly?

Secondly, is it possible to fall in love, declare your love, have it reciprocated, and even get married, without any physical contact at all? Of course it is. In some societies today it is absolutely normal.
