] Poor guy - it isn't his fault. Blame trendsetters. Brock actually has him fashionably dressed. I remember reading that men would sometimes pad their stockings in order to have more attractive legs. Trousers were only just coming into use and were not appropriate for evening parties.

But the portraits showed men in trousers and they looked very elegant too, which is why i remarked about Darcy not looking cheesey anymore.

I agree with you about the shoes though, almost all shoes men have worn in these potraits have a flowery bow on the top which looks uugghh to me.
