] Hume was a lot more than a historian. He was one of the leading lights of the 18th century Scottish Enlightenment, who wrote extensively on logic, epistomology, and the psychology of education. His History of England was for many years the standard work on the subject, written from a Tory perspective.

I have always wondered if it was David Hume. I love David Hume's work. I just recently was skimming through A Treatise of Human Nature.
