Francis Austen's completed survey
In Response To: HMS Leopard ()

This thread reminded me that I'd saved an image I've been meaning to post for some time. It's of an extract from the service memorandum that Frank completed in 1817. It was apparently requested by the Admiralty as part of a survey of all its commissioned officers to determine who stayed and who went when they had to make severe cutbacks in the size of the Navy.

The Leopard is duly noted (not sure how much is missing from the "torn" part of the memo, if anything). I see the Leopard is duly noted. Can't make out what the the reddish writing says at all.

And once again, I'm struck by the beautiful handwriting everyone seems to have had!

I've linked the page from which the image comes below.
